When the weather in January is more like summer than winter it often comes with wind. One of the very best parts of my job is meeting people I never would have met if it wasn't for photography. Emma is a huge American Girl Fan. She loves the books, and of course the dolls. She and I headed over to the Los Angeles American Girl Place to check out their store and have lunch in their cafe. The past two days of school have been busy ones. We are still trying to get used to our new schedule. My 1st grader is getting used to a full day of school, and my 3rd grader is making new friends to supplement the ones who moved to different schools and classes. My baby started preschool today. She is so excited to go to school like her big brother and sister. We were all able to go take her for her first day. She loved it, and can't wait to go back. I'm so happy she has such a great place to go to preschool where the teachers are wonderful and nurturing. Next week it's the older kid's turn the start back. Our family of 5 went on a short vacation to San Diego this week. Although it is fairly close, we were able to get away from our regular lives, and just enjoy each other. This is my baby brother. I come from a family of six children, and Jonathan is the youngest. He's getting married next month to Shelly, and they allowed me to take their engagement photos. My little boy is six years old now! We celebrated with a swim party, and fun with family. I can't believe how fast time flies by. They are the two dogs that came along on my recent family session. It is becoming very common for families to bring their dogs when we meet for family photos. It only makes sense because the family pet is a member of the family. It was a VERY hot day, and these poor dogs, who are a little past their prime, were not very comfortable. They were excellent models though.

We try very hard to arrive to the location of our sessions a little early so we can look around, check the lighting, and choose locations for the families we are working with. This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking newborn pictures of my friend's baby. I love the name Ben (I chose it for my own son). He is 3 1/2 weeks old, and as sweet as can be.
